Daniel Chapo emerges as a ttrong contender in Mozambique’s 2024 Presidential race

Daniel Chapo, the FRELIMO presidential candidate, is one of the frontrunners in Mozambique’s 2024 elections. Early votes have started to be tallied in key polling stations across the country, showing strong support for Chapo, particularly in southern regions like Inhambane and Maputo.

While the opposition, led by RENAMO’s Ossufo Momade and other contenders, has garnered some support, FRELIMO’s electoral organization appears to be more robust. Chapo has already cast his vote in Inhambane, emphasizing that securing the northern region of Cabo Delgado will be his top priority if elected, especially given the ongoing insurgency there

With over 17 million registered voters, FRELIMO remains confident in maintaining its dominance. However, full results are expected in the coming hours, which will determine whether Chapo secures the presidency.
