The debate will provide the head of government with a platform to outline the measures adopted by his administration to drive economic growth and ensure inclusive development across all islands of the archipelago. The parliamentary agenda also includes the approval of several key legislative proposals that could reshape the country’s judicial system.

Key proposals under discussion include: Judicial system reform: A bill establishing the general principles of justice administration and redefining the structure, composition, and jurisdiction of Judicial, Fiscal, and Customs Courts;

Amendments to the Magistrates’ Statutes: Two proposals modifying the 2011 laws governing the statutes of Public Prosecutors and Judicial Magistrates;

Financial oversight: Parliament is also set to review the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee (CPI) report on the management of the Social Sustainability Fund for Tourism and the Environment Fund. Additionally, the 2022 General State Accounts will be put to a vote.

With a range of critical governance topics on the table, the debate is expected to be a key moment for the opposition to challenge the government’s policies and for the administration to reaffirm its strategy for inclusive economic growth.
