Malema challenges Western powers, calls for action against Israel

Johannesburg, South Africa – South African opposition leader Julius Malema has reaffirmed his stance against imperialist influence, condemning what he described as attempts by Western powers, particularly the United States, to intimidate sovereign nations. In a defiant speech, Malema declared that the current generation would not bow to arbitrary sanctions or the threat of war imposed by external forces.

“We agree with you, Mr. President, that we should not be bullied. Let it be clear that we are not a generation of cowards who can be subdued by imperial forces and power-hungry individuals intoxicated by the wealth of puppets,” Malema stated, addressing President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) accused the U.S. of a long history of imposing unjustified sanctions on sovereign nations but vowed that today’s generation would resist external pressure. “We are a generation of economic freedom fighters, and we will not be bullied. We stand on the shoulders of giants who confronted the establishment with their very lives, and we are willing to follow in their footsteps,” he declared.

Malema also addressed the growing diplomatic tensions between South Africa and the U.S., arguing that Washington’s actions were not driven by concerns over South Africa’s internal policies but rather by its firm stance against Israel and its legal actions at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

“We are not being targeted by the Trump administration because we did anything wrong. They are attacking us because of our position on Israel and the steps our government has taken at the ICJ. Do not be misled by those claiming we are under siege due to land expropriation. That is merely a diversion with no real substance,” he asserted.

Calling for a concrete response from the South African government, Malema urged Ramaphosa to take decisive action. “If we are serious about not being bullied, we must start by removing the Israeli embassy from our country. That would send a clear message that we will not be subdued,” he concluded.

Malema’s remarks highlight escalating tensions between South Africa and its Western allies amid shifting global alliances and Pretoria’s increasing support for the Palestinian cause.
