South Sudan president calls for responsive police force

The South Sudanese leader made the remarks while presiding over the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed government officials.

He stressed the urgency of ensuring adequate services and security stabilization through a capable police force, urging citizens to work together to advance the country’s development goals.

According to the South Sudanese leader, the vision and mission for national liberation are steadily ongoing and emphasized the need for collaborative efforts with all stakeholders to strengthen the foundation towards nation building.

He congratulated the newly appointed officials, who included the Deputy Minister of Interior, Mangar Buong Aluenge, and Western Equatoria State Deputy Governor, Hon.Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa, who took oath on Thursday.

The two officials vowed to foster national cohesion in their departments.

On Friday, the parties to South Sudan’s peace agreement extended the current transitional period for additional two years, putting on hold the country’s first post-independence elections initially scheduled for December 24, 2024.

The young nation was expected to conduct elections in 2015, but war erupted in 2013, plunging the country into a political and security situation.
