Lagos, Nigeria – Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has been discharged from hospital after undergoing two surgeries to address an internal head haemorrhage caused by a fall in his bathroom during the early hours of Tuesday. According to the medical team, the president’s recovery progressed faster than expected, allowing for an earlier-than-scheduled discharge. The procedures were described as delicate but successful, ensuring Lula’s stabilisation.

Speaking at a press conference, Lula expressed gratitude to the medical staff and those who offered support during his hospitalisation. Reflecting on the incident, the president revealed he only became aware of its severity after the first surgery on Tuesday night. “I am calm and feeling well,” he assured, adding that he remains focused on resuming his duties.

Lula plans to gradually return to his official agenda under medical supervision, which includes restrictions on his workload and scheduled follow-ups. His recovery marks a critical step in ensuring continuity at the helm of Brazil’s leadership, with both his government and supporters relieved at the outcome of this health emergency.
