Meeting in Dar es Salaam, leaders emphasized the need for a coordinated approach to restore peace in the conflict-ridden east of the country.

Kenyan President William Ruto warned that instability in the DRC affects not only the nation but the entire region. “The suffering of millions of Congolese should be a wake-up call for all of us.

Peace in the DRC means stability for all of Africa,” he said. Ruto called for greater international support to bolster peace efforts and ensure humanitarian aid reaches displaced communities.

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa underscored the importance of respecting DRC’s sovereignty while ensuring regional security. “Africa can no longer allow external interference to fuel instability and exploit our resources,” he declared.

The summit concluded with an agreement to formulate a joint EAC-SADC action plan aimed at reinforcing ongoing peace processes, including the Luanda and Nairobi initiatives.
